The Canada Greener Homes Grant from NRCan uses the EnerGuide home evaluation process to help homeowners make their homes more energy efficient.

As a registered service organization with NRCan, prairieHOUSE is qualified to perform your EnerGuide evaluation and recommend energy-efficient retrofits to your home.

To participate in the Greener Homes Grant Program please register for the program.

STEP ONE

We cannot begin the process of your home evaluation until you have registered on the Greener Homes website.


STEP TWO

NRCan will review your file and send it to prairieHOUSE.

Please note that prairieHOUSE does not have your contact or home information and cannot schedule an evaluation until NRCan provides us with your file.


STEP THREE

prairieHOUSE will then send a confirmation email and contact information for your assigned Energy Advisor.

If your file has been verified by NRCan and you haven’t received an email from us please check your spam folder.


STEP FOUR

Your prairieHOUSE Energy Advisor will contact you directly to schedule an appointment for your evaluation.

We currently have advisors located in Winnipeg, Brandon, Neepawa, and Carberry and service all areas of Manitoba.

I’ve registered for the Greener Homes program and want to know when I can book my evaluation?

  1. Once you have registered for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, NRCan will review your file, then send it to prairieHOUSE.

  2. If you have not heard from prairieHOUSE regarding your home evaluation we have not received your file from NRCan. Please reach out to us at info@prairiehouse.ca so we can help.

  3. Once prairieHOUSE has received your file from NRCan we will send you a confirmation email. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam folder.


Can I get a grant to install a high efficiency natural gas furnace?

Please note that no grants are available for installing high efficiency natural gas furnaces, but there are very attractive grants for the following:

  • geothermal and air source heat pumps

  • heat pump water heaters

  • smart thermostats

  • windows, doors

  • insulation

  • air sealing


Will I be fully reimbursed for my windows through the NRCan grant?

The grant amount per window is either $125 or $250 depending on the rated energy efficiency of the window. Please carefully review the grant amounts before applying for the program.


What are your wait times for the evaluation?

We currently have no wait times for appointments! If you are located within an hour of Winnipeg or Brandon, we can typically come within 1 week of receiving your request. If you are located in a more remote area of the province, please contact us at info@prairiehouse.ca to learn when a prairieHOUSE Energy Advisor will be in your area.


I already purchased or installed my upgrades, can I still participate in the Greener Homes program?

All materials and equipment must be purchased and installed after the pre-retrofit evaluation in order to qualify for Greener Homes Grants.


Is an EnerGuide home evaluation free?

Both the pre-retrofit evaluation and post-retrofit evaluation must be paid for at the time of service. If you complete both evaluations and a minimum of one recommended energy retrofit, you will qualify for a $600 grant toward the cost of the evaluations.
